About school

Profile

In the race for excellence there is no finishing line…”  HHSMR

Global English School was established in Al Ain as one of the first private schools in 1982 by its founder Mr. P K Mohamed Ansari and from a modest beginning, the institution scaled heights quickly.

In 2002, the school management made the decision to change the curriculum to one based on the England National Curriculum, Looking to the growing demand of International education and the aspirations of the local and expatriate community. The Cambridge International Curriculum was adopted. The school now offers EYFS for Foundation Stage, the New English National Curriculum with consideration for the local culture, the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and Cambridge AS and A levels.

The motivating and supportive learning environment promotes academic achievement and positive personal growth necessary to be successful in a diverse and ever-changing world! Shaping the future a perfect school facilitates young minds to absorb knowledge along with courage, and perception to see the world with a bold perspective.

The school has always respected and responded to the needs of the local Emarati community and contributed to their educational growth. Great importance is laid on Arabic, Islamic Studies and UAE culture studies, while not diluting the internationally recognized Cambridge curriculum.

School Curriculum

A recent addition has been the completion of GES as an English Curriculum School with the adoption of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for our Foundation Stage.  KG children have shown spectacular progress in reading and writing as we place greater focus on the development on the basic skills of Literacy and Numeracy. This ensures a smooth transition from KG2 to Year 1.

Even though it is not compulsory, GES introduces Arabic and Islamic studies in the Foundation Stage so that all students have access to both the English National Curriculum and the Ministry of Education from KG1 to Year 12.

National Curriculum of England is practiced in Years 1 to 8. A focus for the school starting next year will be to develop proficiency in English. We will no longer settle for English being taught in an adhoc way, but rather it will be taught in a systematic and comprehensive manner. Teachers in the younger years will be trained to teach reading and writing as though they were native speakers. We have introduced Continuous Assessment that is closely linked with the National Curriculum of England (Years KG-8) and the Cambridge IGCSE/AS/A levels. Carefully developed Rubrics (assessment guides) that are closely linked with Learning Outcomes in the National Curriculum of England are used to guide the students.

Students progress to Cambridge IGCSE at Year 9 and appear for Cambridge International Examinations at the end of Year 10. Cambridge AS and A level qualifications are offered at Year 11 and 12 respectively. Currently we offer a Business Stream and a Science Stream. We want to be able to expand the choice for students, giving them a broader education. Some of the possibilities are environmental education, tourism, media and technology.
